The book will include 50 paintings, maps, and drawings made by Tolkien himself, and will be available in hardcover on September 14, alongside a beautiful Deluxe Illustrated Edition. Bilbo Baggins is a hobbit who enjoys a comfortable, unambitious life, rarely travelling further than the pantry of his hobbit-hole in Bag End. I hope they stop the Illustrated by the Author line here though, as they already had to stretch the definition of an illustration pretty thin for The Silmarillion and I don't think there is enough material left to fill another book after this release.
