Why is Amazfit Bip 3 Pro better than Amazfit Bip U Pro?
Of course, the ‘Elephone in the room’ is the price… It’s not cheap. But in terms of the hardware that’s offered it seems pretty reasonable. Well, now that you’re asking, yes! The Elephone U Pro has NFC, which is a rarity for an import device. Since I’ve been using the Mi 6 I’ve become a convert to Android Pay, so this is definitely a feature that I’d struggle to do without. However, when it comes to sound quality, as wireless headphones go, the Samsung Level U Pro’s are solid. Provided you get a good fit, the sound quality is actually surprisingly respectable. Inside are 13mm dynamic and Piezo drivers that deliver a good level clarity in the mids and treble and have nicely balanced bass. There was plenty of detail in the cymbals and a comfortable amount of energy from the bass in Warren G’s Regulate, and the soundstage in Menahan Street Band’s Three Faces had good separation of the individual instruments. The trumpets did occasionally sound a little harsh, but for the most part the Level U Pro provided a comfortable listening experience. The Samsung Level U Pro’s have a fairly typical collar headphone design similar to the Tone Platinum wireless headphones set to arrive with the LG G5 later this year. The Elephone U Pro has dual 13MP main cameras which are arranged vertically, like the iPhone X. Much like the system used by Huawei, the U Pro will have one colour and one monochrome sensor. This generally leads to improved performance in low light. However, if you don’t want to be disturbed all night, you’re going to have to turn off the motion-based screen wake, which comes in so handy during the day. I almost blinded my wife a couple of times just by turning over in the night. Turning on Do Not Disturb does not prevent the screen from waking when the watch detects motion. Annoying.
Dual cameras have always been a troublesome feature of the lesser-known smartphone brands. For every Xiaomi Mi 6 or Mi A1 with a pair of fantastic sensors, there is a Doogee BL5000 or UMIDIGI Z1 Pro making you long for the days of one decent camera as opposed to 2 mediocre ones… Resting heart rate, when measured, was more or less in line with the optical heart-rate sensor on the Whoop Strap 3.0.
How is the design of the Amazfit Bip U Pro?
I tried again using the Outdoor Cycling mode on the watch, using the Polar H-10 chest strap and Polar Beat app, as well as the wrist-based Whoop. The tenor model features a familiar wide 38mm nut width with 30mm string spacing at the nut. Perfect for someone wanting a portable throw around ukulele that feels comfortable in big hands. The ultra modern rolled off 'hot dog' frets are a great improvement on previous generations too. Apart from that, you get notifications from all the apps you choose, but don’t expect a very organized rich notification experience as we’ve seen on some WearOS or even RTOS wearables. The Bip U Pro can hold up to 10 notifications at once, and notifies you of the incoming calls with the option to reject or silent the incoming call. The watch is incapable of displaying emoji. To access the notifications, you can swipe up on the home screen. The Snapdragon 660 is a great choice of CPU that delivers exceptional performance. It’s already been used in other premium phones such as the Xiaomi Mi Note 3 and Oppo’s R11 series.
