There were two levels of revision made to the work at each of these stages. The first were minor issues of emphasis to the story which Hardy made in response to reader’s criticism. In editing terms, these are called substantives. The second level is matters of punctuation and text presentation (such as capitalization, spelling, speech marks, and italics). These might have been Hardy’s revisions, but they would often be governed by the publisher’s house style. Hardy changed publisher to Osgood, McIlvaine, who in 1896 issued the collected edition of Hardy’s work called the Wessex Novels. This enabled Hardy to make yet further revisions to the text. The Woodlander was the only holiday I’d been on in several years and was the best decision I’ve made in a long time.The Woodlanders is a novel by Thomas Hardy. It was serialised from 15 May 1886 to 9 April 1887 in Macmillan's Magazine [1] and published in three volumes in 1887. [2] It is one of his series of Wessex novels. Riparian woodland - planting along watercourses can create a buffer between rivers and the adjacent land, intercepting and removing nutrient pollutants and sediment in run-off; providing a barrier to pesticide spray drift; protecting river banks from disturbance and erosion; slowing flood flows; and providing shade to reduce thermal stress to fish and other aquatic life.

There's absolutely no chance that I would intentionally subject myself to the task of reading the book. No missing details from the written word could ever entice me.
