About this deal

In the Astral Adventurer's Guide players will be presented with 16 different designs. An example of one of these is the Nightspider Ship, as the name suggests it's a ship in the shape of a spider. These ships also come in more common-looking varieties for those with arachnophobia. This set contains everything a Dungeon Master needs to run adventures and campaigns set in the starlit realms of Wildspace and the Astral Sea, as well as new options for players who want to create characters at home in this fantastic setting. With regards this product, bringing Spelljammer into 5th, you get three slim books with a pullout map (always a pain in the arse not to tear), and a DM screen. Of the latter I'm not sure how much use it would be, but it looks pretty. The Auto-Gnomes are a construct race that instead of being a Vulcan falls into the Data realm of sci-fi. These constructs have been made by the Gnomes that they're modeled after. Players will have different options behind why they were created, but those weren't delved into any further. I guess that for the actual travelling between planes, spheres or wildspaces through the astral sea you can find more info in the dungeon master book.

As for those sweet covers you see abouce, Hydro74 provided the art for all the alternate covers. Astral Adventurer's Guide cover is by Bruce Brenneise, and the Light og Xaryxis cover is by Ekaterina Burmak. That said, I expected more actionable material. The ship-to-ship combat is not very in depth (Ghosts of Saltmarsh has better mechanics for it). There's only 2 new spells and 3 new magic items. Spelljammer helms are relatively cheap to make, so why isn't everyone flying around on spelljamming vessels? In 2e, the capabilities of the spelljammer mattered, but in this one a level 1 character with spell slots is just as capable as a level 20 with max spellcasting attributes. This is due to be followed by a free prequel adventure in July. Although we don't know much about it just yet, its name - 'Spelljammer Academy' - suggests it will show us the ropes for this space-faring world. There aren't any rules around creating your own ships with so many others on offer but Perkins was confident that players would be able to mix and match where they saw fit and that there would be plenty of communities that would want to create all manner of ship, or recreate previous versions of ships. Nope... Astral Adventurer's Guide - A Spelljammer equivalent of the Player's Handbook with some extra information related to the Spelljammer setting Planescape also introduced the setting of Sigil (also known as the “City of Doors”) a torus-shaped metropolis located in the center of the planes of existence atop a infinitely tall Spire. A kind of interdimensional gathering place, Sigil was filled with countless portals leading to other planes of existence, allowing numerous species and interplanar travelers to meet and trade. Because of its unique location in the multiverse, Sigil also featured a variety of warring Factions, unique monsters, magic items, and a variety of powerful NPCs (including the enigmatic masked Lady of Pain who ruled over the city).

During the annual “Wizards Presents” event held in August of 2022, Dungeons & Dragons publisher Wizards of the Coast announced the complete lineup of all new D&D game books slated for release in 2023. This list included the heist-themed adventure anthology Keys from the Golden Vault, the giant-inspired supplement Bigby Presents: Glory of the Giants, the spell and magic-item driven collection The Book of Many Things, and the retooled campaign for Phandelver and Below: The Shattered Obelisk. When asked about how much the material planes know of the Spelljammer setting and the Astral Sea it was equated to the amount of knowledge a medieval peasant might have about the content of Australia. But for royalty or those high in power might have heard things about Australia. It depends on who you speak to in-game whether they know that space will lead to a greater ocean that can be sailed. Despite its success, the Planescape setting was largely ignored in the 3rd, 4th and 5th editions of D&D, although many of the concepts (including the city of Sigil) are briefly mentioned in various DnD 5e campaigns and adventure materials. When did Planescape: Adventures in the Multiverse come out?Originally released as a campaign setting in 1994 for AD&D 2nd Edition, Planescape was the brainchild of longtime D&D designer David “Zeb” Cook. Cook had a fascination with the idea of exploring different planes of existence, something which has briefly been touched on in Manual of the Planes, a gamebook for AD&D 1st edition D&D published in 1987 and written by Jeff Grub. That particular book introduced a number of core planes of existence and the powerful entities which dwell there. The idea of how gravity works within an air-envelope and combat in zero-gravity is something I would not fully adapt in a game, but as far as I remember this is almost the same system as in the old Spelljammer book. The air-envelope itself is a cool idea, but the whole gravity system when two spelljammer ships hit each other and the gravity-direction of the ship with the most HP remaining decides the direction of gravity is a messy system. Also, the rules about going overboard in wildspace and bouncing up and down the gravity direction is a bit silly. It's like floating on an invisible sea as far as the air-envelope reaches.

Yes, there are indeed alternate covers to each of the three Planescape: Adventures in the Multiverse books: Sigil and the Outlands, Morte’s Planar Parade and Turn of Fortune’s Wheel. Notably all of the covers are illustrated by original Planescape artist Tony DiTerlizzi. This is the manifestation of every metal album cover ever (Image credit: Future) Overall - should you buy Dungeons & Dragons: Spelljammer: Adventures in Space?

Some friendly creatures to encounter might be the Giant Space Hamsters (that are twice the size of the average Halfling race). There are also a number of variants to the Giant Space Hamster, such as the Miniature Giant Space Hamster, as well as some others. What are the player races of Spelljammer: Adventures in Space? This box set has three books. The first is the setting, the second is a bestiary and the third book is an adventure. The adventure is perfectly fine. It explicitly claims that it is inspired by the 1980 Flash Gordon film and it very much has that feel. It has a few problems and I would not run it quite as written, but if you enjoy a very campy adventure (which is not for everyone) it's pretty good. The second book is a bestiary. It does the job in getting a good set of creatures specific to the setting, although their mechanics can be a bit bland. There are, however, no additional covers being created by third-party publishers like Beadle & Grimm’s (which has published collectors editions for various Wizards of the Coast products in the past). What other tie-in products will be available?

What might you encounter in the Astral Sea?

This collection contains everything a Dungeon Master needs to run a campaign set in the starlit realms of Wildspace and the Astral Sea, as well as new options for players who want to create characters at home in this fantastic setting.
