As well as the pages which focus on idenifying and describing the different species (pages 68 - 312) the openeing chapters deal with a range of fascinating and related topics (pages 4 -68). Although not as comprehensive as the other Collins tree guide, it's a handier size and I find it easier to ID from photographs than from drawings, so the two books go well together. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average.
There is no key at the begining so it makes it difficult to accuratly identify the tree your looking at, but the pictures and descriptions and measurments are very accurate, providing you can recognise the family the tree is from.
