About this deal

As these streams have come together, they’ve created a third approach rooted in British tradition, but which borrows a few tricks from America. It’s not just an adjective for how good it is—it’s won more British brewing medals than any beer since its conception—but because even as it has grown into a national brand, it has always been an outlier. Dickie remembers tales of regulars switching their weekend sessions to Jaipur and going missing for three days after.

By the time Jim and Emma Harrison bought Thornbridge Hall in 2002, whatever home-brewing the residents might have conducted in the 17th or 18th century was long gone. With over 350 Industry recognised awards they are rightly proud to be part of the exciting Craft Beer scene. There were already signs of a brewing renaissance afoot, thanks to the introduction of Small Brewers Relief, and it wasn’t like the hall didn’t have the space.uk accepts no liability for inaccuracies or misstatements about products by manufacturers or other third parties. By 2016, ticking culture was at its height within the craft beer industry, and a new trend was about to challenge classical IPA as the flagship style of craft beer. Next, they were tasked with brewing something a little different, an IPA which packed a punch in terms of both flavour and ABV. The Thornbridge story began back in 2005 when the founders Jim Harrison and Simon Webster recruited two young brewers to brew on a second hand 10-barrel kit in the grounds of Thornbridge Hall.

The cleaner yeast profile meant less perceived fruit character, but actually a slightly higher finishing gravity for more body and sweetness in the face of higher carbonation. Inspired by Wickett’s beers and their own experience of American craft brewing, they began by using U. It is around half the strength of 18th- and 19th-century IPAs, and lacks the heavy hopping rate that, as the story goes, allowed those beers to survive months at sea to reach India.

Jim Harrison, with help from business partner Simon Webster and two other young brewers, set out with aims "to make a small range of quality cask and bottled beers using new recipes, innovative approaches and the use of local fresh ingredients". He promised to help Harrison get a brewery off the ground in exchange for using the site to contract brew additional batches of Kelham Island beers.

The first few brews were all for Kelham Island, but Dickie remembers how he and fellow brewer Stefano Cossi were given complete freedom outside of that.Webster had been pleased with the beers coming out of the brewery in the first few months, but remembers being “wowed” by the heady orange peel and pine aroma, as well as how drinkable it was for the ABV. Packed full of American hops, Jaipur’s hoppiness builds in the mouth and bursts with powerful citrus fruit flavours with a remarkably smooth finish.

Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Shelf life: Long - The foil bag contained within the keg allows for a much longer shelf life than a normal beer keg, even when connected 6- 8 weeks. Then they did something far more interesting, fusing the older English tradition with the new American one.
