About this deal

She is well known for her many television appearances, culminating in the BBC1 series Mary's Berry's Ultimate Cakes and Mary Berry at Home . Among the things that filled the second suitcase were hard to get, very expensive here but not in the UK items like Maldon salt, Billings sugars, stem ginger and golden syrup was a copy of Mary's first edition Mary Berry's Baking Bible. Cordon Bleu trained in Paris, Mary began her career as a magazine cookery editor before publishing her first cookery book in 1966. Disclosure: Received an ARC of this book from NetGalley and Clarkson Potter/Ten Speed Press (Thank you! It’s not just her personality that does this, but her no-nonsense recipes that the everyday Joe and Jane can actually make at home.

Number One on my list is the Victoria Sponge - quickly whipped up, the layers sandwiched together with strawberry (or raspberry) jam and either whipped cream or a buttercream frosting and the top simply dusted with powdered sugar. I have such a soft spot for Mary Berry and think her recipes are just so traditional and comforting! This texture-packed loaf can be found in the chapter on bread, and is a lovely recipe to pull out as an accompaniment for dinner party cheese boards or for topping with cream cheese and smoked salmon at a weekend brunch. Biography: Dame Mary Berry is the nation's favourite baker and author of over 70 books, including the bestselling Mary Berry Cooks, Mary Berry's Absolute Favourites, Mary Berry At Home and Mary Berry's Baking Bible. One of many classic bun recipes that can be found in Mary Berry’s Baking Bible, this is a reliable recipe to revisit whenever the craving strikes.

She was the much-loved judge on the BBC's The Great British Bake Off and has been teaching the nation to cook for over four decades. Mary Berry provides reliable recipes for cakes, puddings, and breads that are easy to follow and turn out perfectly each and every time. I am now blaming this book for an increase in weight but the pleasure of being able to present edible and attractive bakes for friends and family's acclaim is worth it. I just think it's worth noting here because I think there could be some frustration/disappointment if one wasn't aware that this is very much a British cookbook with a British audience in mind. Recipes we love: Frosted Walnut Cake, Hot Chocolate Soufflés, Victoria Sponge, Paprika and Cheese Biscuits, and The Very Best Shortbread. When I discovered that Mary Berry had an updated and revised “Mary Berry’s Baking Bible,” I was determined to review it. I'm especially interested in the very British and classic Victoria Sandwich (Sponge Cake), Banoffee Pie, The Best Scones and The Fork Cookies Recipe.

One of the many tempting traybakes you will find in Mary Berry’s Baking Bible this decadent traybake is a chocoholic’s dream bake with a rich chocolate sponge, chocolate icing and shards of chocolate to finish.I loved her when she was on the Great British Bake Off, and I have a previous cookbook of hers as well. There has been the odd quirk with things like icing quantities and Mary makes smaller biscuits than I do – could be why she is tiny and I’m not ;). In this completely modernised reissue, the 250 bakes include 20 brand-new recipes alongside all of the much-loved originals, which have been newly tested and photographed.
