About this deal

With a rush of cool air, distant lands rolled by in a mesmerising display. They sped past Yathrib and beyond Khaybar. With each leap, the pain and difficulty from the Year of Sadness became more distant as they speared through the night towards Jerusalem, the same direction the Prophet and his followers turned to while praying.”

Menk was also honored with KSBEA 2015 Awards – Global Leadership Award in Social Guidance which was awarded by the Cochin Herald. MOTIVATIONAL MOMENTS II Dr Mufti Ismail Menk was born in Zimbabwe to a well- respected family. He went to St John’s College, one of the top schools in Zimbabwe and had set his mind on becoming an ophthalmologist. But the Almighty had other plans for him. He went on to study Shariah in Madinah, specialised in jurisprudence and later became the Grand Mufti of Zimbabwe. Today, Mufti Menk is one of the most prominent and prolific Islamic scholars. He has a whole list of accolades to his name. Among them, one of “The Top 500 Most Influential Muslims in the World” since 2010. He also holds a Doctorate of Social Guidance from Aldersgate University. Millions of people follow him across all his social media platforms. He is loved and known for his engaging lectures, delivered with clarity, sound and practical approach, wit and humour which together have become the hallmark of Mufti Menk. He travels the globe extensively, lecturing to world audiences. Mufti Menk’s message is simple. Respect all, do good and reach out to others, while preparing for the Hereafter. This message resonates with all, regardless of race or religion. He engages in humanitarian and educational work extensively, often traveling to rural Zimbabwe and other parts of Africa. He takes a firm stand against terrorism, gross injustice, fanaticism, extremism and is a staunch proponent of peaceful coexistence. Today in the 21st century, the message of the Prophet continues to challenge the status quo in societies around the world on issues such as individualism, materialism, and atheism. As followers of the Prophet Muhammad, we should embrace this aspect of our religion, for its very nature is to strike a clear distinction between truth and falsehood, between purity and filth—regardless of what people think.” He is active in the international arena and is a strong proponent of peace and justice, speaking up against all forms of terrorism. MOTIVATIONAL MOMENTS II Pray for a heart of ease, calm and hope. Pray that the Almighty protects it from being cold and bitter. Pray that He keeps it firm in faith. When your failure brings you closer to your Creator, that’s NOT failure. That is your success. Thank the Almighty for it. Whatever’s going on in your life right now, never take for granted what the Almighty has done. Remember, all things happen for a reason. Let’s face it, we will never be able to write down every single blessing the Almighty has given us. Start being grateful. Thank Him daily. HOPE | 28 KSBEA 2015 Global Leadership Award 2015 Winners" (PDF). The Times of India. 10 June 2015. Archived from the original (PDF) on 12 June 2015 . Retrieved 8 July 2015.The first book in this series recounts the main events of the life of the Prophet ﷺ; beginning just before his blessed birth and ending with the migration to Medina (then Yathrib). Key events during this time include: marriage to Khadijah (ra), the first revelation from Allah (SWT), the encounter with Jibreel (as), early migration of the companions to Abyssinia, the Year of Sadness, trials at Ta’if, and al-Isra wal-Mi’raj. Menk undertook his initial studies in Harare with his father, memorizing the Quran and learning Arabic, Urdu, and Hanafi fiqh. He went to St. John's College (Harare) for senior school. He later specialized in Hanbali fiqh at the Islamic University of Madinah. I would liken this book's style to Shaykha Fatima Barkatullah's book on Khadijah (ra); in fact, the two would make excellent companion books!

MOTIVATIONAL MOMENTS II Nothing in your life happens randomly. The Almighty knows what He is doing to help you return to Him in the best way possible. You have to trust His Plan. He has planned it right to the last detail! Life can be difficult at times. The never ending running around and stress to get things done. Don’t let it make you resent your life. Learn to look at those who have less than you. Those who would trade places with you at the drop of a hat. Thank the Almighty for everything! Be strong. Stay firm in faith. Face whatever the Almighty has decreed head on. Seek His Help and Protection always. Don’t worry about what others say. When you come to the end of your life, you’re not going to answer to people, you’re going to answer to Him alone! HOPE | 27 MOTIVATIONAL MOMENTS II Even in your lowest moments when you’re totally helpless, don’t despair. The Almighty will send something your way when you least expect it. No matter what you’re facing, when it’s time for you to shine, when it’s time for you to excel, you will. None can stop what He wills. Don’t stress too much over worldly matters. Worrying about the future or regretting the past is a waste of time. Leave it to the Almighty. Your hardship won’t last. Your sadness won’t last. Nothing lasts in this world. Every test you go through will empower you. You’ll be ok! HOPE | 20 Menk opposes terrorism and has pledged his aid in curbing religious extremism in the Maldives. [21] On 31 March 2018, he urged Liberian Muslims to avoid Muslim—Christian violence, arguing that Muslims and Christians are brothers and sisters from one father, the prophet Adam. [22] He blames western media for misleading the world that Muslims are terrorists. [23] According to Gulf News, Menk said that everyone on this earth is a part of a family and has one maker, therefore, no one has the right to force any belief or faith on another. [24] While there are many resources available for English-speakers to learn about the Prophet ﷺ, much of the literature can be dense with information and facts. This can be disengaging for a younger or non-academic crowd who are often only engaged when information is conveyed in a more compelling, straightforward manner. MOTIVATIONAL MOMENTS II When you finally see your reward in Paradise for all the pain you endured in the temporary world, you’d wish you had more of the pain at that time! No one knows what awaits us for what we used to do but the Almighty. So keep going. Learn to view your hardships differently. See every adversity, every disappointment in a new light. They’re not meant to defeat you but to draw you closer to the Almighty. They’re there to make you a better person. We’ve all had problems that we believe will never be solved because it has been too long. We feel bogged down by our own shortcomings. We begin to accept that this is how it’s always going to be. But know that the Almighty doesn’t give up on you just because you’ve given up. HOPE | 43

Mufti Ismail Menk". themuslim 500.com. Archived from the original on 5 October 2015 . Retrieved 11 August 2015. MOTIVATIONAL MOMENTS II No matter what’s happening to you, there’s always hope. You’ve got to believe that. Choose hope over despair. Remember nothing lasts. So cling on to the hope that things will change for the better. And that change will come soon. The truth is no matter how lonely you are, you’re never alone. The Almighty is always near. Very near. He knows what you’re going through. He is aware of everything. So when everyone has abandoned you, seek comfort in Him, knowing that He is always there. Many of us are guilty of overthinking. Remember, the battle starts in your mind. Don’t defeat yourself in your own mind before you’ve even started. Focus your mind in the right direction. Be positive about things. You will see the difference. Muhammed ﷺ loved his people and desired a bright future for them, a future of peace, justice, and true faith in Allah. In the comforting confines of the cave, he sat in silence, eyes closed and heart searching." A very good introduction to the Seerah. After watching some informative films, series and lectures, I really wanted to get into its reading materials. I wanted to start of with the Sealed Nectar but decided to go with this book as it is a little lighter and can potentially prepare you for the other more renowned works. Not to mention it had the endorsement of Mufti Menk. It is in that regard, that this book did a really great job and is a really good starting point for children. Hence why, owning a physical copy of this book for your household is a must. For that and also the author explicitly has asked to not make PDF copies for distribution, which we as muslims should honour. Most chapters end with a short lesson that reinforces the key message the chapter. This is a useful addition that encourages the reader to be firm in his or her faith and showcases the sacrifices and difficulties that come with being a believer.
