About this deal

When a man of considerable wealth learns he has a serious medical condition, his first thought is to warn those with his genetic make up of the possibility that they might have inherited it. But just as Miles is attempting to make contact with these nine, several of them disappear under similar disturbing circumstances. The best book of his career' STEPHEN KING'Insanely paced, wildly entertaining' JOE HILL'A full-throttle powerhouse of a thriller' T. A ton of action in the last quarter or so of the story but it felt lackluster because I didn't like the direction the author went in.

He has just received the unwelcome and terrifying news that he has Huntingdon's disease, whilst it is difficult to chart its exact trajectory, it will mean his health will be deteriorating considerably and there is nothing his money can do to prevent it. Miles is a self made millionaire in his 40’s who has just found out that he has Huntington’s which is a genetic disease. Easy to get caught up in and hard to stop listening, had to know if Miles would find out why the names on his list were disappearing! FIND YOU FIRST is absolutely over the top and utterly beyond the bounds of credibility, but it’s high speed, compelling, and gripping with lots of twists and turns and it’s great reading entertainment. Now he needs to track down his potential grown children to warn them and assist in helping pay for any care they may need. The way the story comes together is great, made better by the fact that its characterization definitely has you invested. The handful of impactful secondary characters throughout the book offer the reader some interesting flavouring into the plot development and how the protagonists are able to forge ahead. Linwood Barclay balances the handling of contemporary issues with artful storytelling: as ever, he demonstrates his consummate skill at weaving multiple plot lines towards a deeply satisfying and unexpected ending. Chloe Swanson, an aspiring film documentarian, knows that her mother used a New York sperm bank to become pregnant twenty-two years ago.

This is my first book by Linwood Barclay and now that I've read this one, I'm going to go back and look at his other work. Miles has been diagnosed with Huntingdon’s Disease, a terminal illness that will eventually eat away at his motor skills. Maybe this is common knowledge but it's clear that Barclay was inspired by Jeffrey Epstein when writing Jeremy Pritkin LOL.My least favorite of the bunch was definitely Jeremy, another millionaire, but he cares only for himself and his very sick and twisted desire for very young women. Linwood Barclay creates an enjoyable, fun, unique, complex story with some likeable, unlikable, some stereotyped characters and characters that defy stereotypes.

Elevator Pitch is a white-knuckled ride of a book with twists on every level and an unforgettable cast of characters brought to life with Linwood Barclay's signature flair and acuity. That hand under the dresser turns out to be a clue to the disappearance of one of the heirs and is connected to a car running off a road. He wrote the screenplay adaptation for his novel Never Saw it Coming and his book The Accident has been made into a TV series in France. With cute and inclusive illustrations, it shows the simple ways little ones can be antiracist – from celebrating all our differences to confessing when they’ve been racist.

This book started with a prologue following Todd, 21, told in the third person point of view, as he tried to swindle money out of an elderly over the phone. The book went downhill from there with multiple unrealistic storylines converging together again and again which caused me to rate this one as the worst book I have read since “The Little Friend” by Donna Tartt or Harlan Coben’s “Boy in the Woods”.When he learns he doesn't have long to live, he decides to track down all nine of his children to warn them he may have passed on the disease and to give them his fortune — but just as he connects with his filmmaker daughter, Chloe, the other children begin disappearing as if they never existed at all.
