About this deal

Afetr re-aquiring my Orion binocular mount, which I’d sold to my brother at around the same time I sold on the 15x70 binos, I got the new 25x70 Skymasters out last night for their first light under the stars on the Orion mount. These binoculars are capable of unveiling a handful of galaxies, including M31 and M33, though the presence of urban light pollution will obstruct finer details or entirely obscure these objects. Even though still not fully dark the contrast between sky and nebula was very good, so it was not just large to see, but stood out very well. As an additional convenience, the 80mm and 100mm SkyMaster models also include an integral super rigid photo tripod adapter.

Unlike many phony reviews out there, I wrote this Celestron SkyMaster 25x70 binocular review after actually using and testing them over many days (and nights in this case), both out in the field and in my office. This difference was very small in good light and when comparing them to my average 8x42's, but was far more noticeable in poor and very poor light when the pupil in my eyes would have dilated and been quite a bit larger than the exit pupil on these Celestron binoculars. The Zhumell Tachyon 25x100 and the Celestron SkyMaster 25x100 on the other hand also have 4mm exit pupils (100 ÷ 25 = 4) and you still get the added reach and image detail with the 25x magnification.

Ideal For: As I mentioned earlier under the strong points, the fact that they can be hand held for terrestrial use is fantastic.

A beefy tripod that extends to six feet or more in height, such as the Celestron Ultima Pan Tilt Head Tripod, is recommended to facilitate observing objects higher in the sky. The cover does have a loop on the right hand side that you can thread the neck strap though to keep them handy at all times. The included carrying case provides secure storage and convenient transport, safeguarding the binoculars from dust, moisture, and accidental damage. All in all I am very chuffed with these binos, which will get much more use looking for fuzzies later on in the year when darker skies arrive back. This high magnification makes it possible to view craters on the Moon, distant galaxies, and even planetary features with remarkable resolution.ULTRA CLEAR IMAGE – Multilayer-coated aspherical lens elements provide superior light transmission and minimal distortion, better image brightness, contrast, and quality. Also without a tripod, I found that my arms got tired and began to ache much more quickly when looking upwards. As expected, Mars is easily observable as a small red ball, but you can't really make out any other features than that, but am told that in better conditions you may be able to make out the basins from the red areas.

Each SkyMaster model features high quality BaK-4 prisms and multi-coated optics for enhanced contrast. For me the the Orion Nebula appeared as a very faint grey blotch, but once again think it may be possible to see more on a better night. This strap allows users to keep their binoculars within easy reach, ready to capture celestial marvels at a moment’s notice. which is fine during the day and in good light when that will pretty much match that of the size of the pupils in your eyes and so provide them with enough light so that you see a nice bright image.At the forefront of a new era in amateur astronomy, the launch of Celestron Origin stands as a beacon, seamlessly intertwining stargazing and astrophotography into a singular, user-friendly experience.
