Also known as the Noolbenger- it’s aboriginal name - the honey possum is the world’s only true nectar-eating marsupial (indeed, one of the only mammals). Considering honey possums don’t eat honey and are only remotely related to possums, Noolbenger seems a far more appropriate name. Just look at them. Definitely Noolbengers. Nomad Bees are annoying because they’ll take over the hives used by other solitary bee types. Fortunately there is a limit to how many times this can happen per hive, so if you keep capturing the nomad bees when they come out and re-homing them somewhere away from your hives, you’ll eventually deal with the problem. (Keep at least one or two for breeding, though!) Care and feeding A lot of bee types either don’t spawn in the world organically, or do but are easier to get by luring. Using an appropriate nest and some honey treats, many different species of bees can be tempted to come to you. When the hind legs are covered in pollen, the Chocolate Mining Bee looks similar to females of the Buffish Mining Bee. Female Buffish Mining Bees have dense ginger hair and a bright orange pollen brush. When taking photographs, it is useful to capture the hind legs to aid identification. Often looked by their furrier and larger cousins, solitary bees in fact make up over 90% of bee species found in Britain. Over 100 bee species have been recorded from the North East: 19 bumblebees, one honeybee and the rest? Solitary bees!
