If your little angel is honoured with the role of Mary, or your shining star is to be a sheep, here are some sewing-free, stress-free ways of getting simple, yet effective, handmade Nativity costumes recommended by non-crafty mum and teacher, Phoebe Doyle. Again, you can make a simple tunic for these costumes –just use a colourful or velvet fabric for a King or a Wise Man. If you want to add any details or accessories to your tabard, you can stick these on with Wonderweb too, depending on which character your child is playing.

For most Nativity costumes, you can get away with a tabard or a tunic to make up the base of the outfit.

If you've not got a sewing machine or don't fancy getting your needle and thread out then you can simply use iron-on hemming tape like Wonderweb (also known as Wundaweb) or a glue gun to put your costume together. I do wish you were around then, as your content is fantastic and my little boy looks forward to your daily worksheets. Make a plain or stripy tunic (an old striped duvet cover or baggy t-shirt will do) and tie around the waist with a length of rope or a belt.
