However, compared to contemporary warm-weather men's fragrances, I find that Armani Eau Pour Homme is just not that competitive. The original had a similar spice but from memory came out more clove like to me and made it smell a bit too old for me at the time whilst I didn't detect this in this current reformulation.

Not loud as many other powerhouses from the 1980's, but very refined and can be worn casually as well as dressed up. The vintage version (Cosmair) is fairly heavy with oakmoss and there is more depth to it than the current/reformulated Armani Eau Pour Homme. Anyway, as with the 1980s version, this one is pleasant and distinctive, but more for the mature gentleman than the young. There's not a lot more that can be said about such a controlled exercise in chypre craft, outside the fact that it avoids being a total oakmoss bomb due to it's "eau" lightness in the sillage department.guys i have the older version and need to know the similarities or differences with this one, if it worths the purchase. I also am not disappointed by this 2013 reformulation and find it very similar to how I remember the original. Projection is moderate and longevity is around 5-6 hours as long as you manage to get some on your clothing as well.From this launch, came a diverse line by the 1980's, consisting of Emporio Armani (higher-end trend-conscious fashion and fragrance), Giorgio Armani (more conventional Italian fashion and fragrance), Armani Collezioni (more value-conscious clothing-only brand), and Armani Privé (haute couture and eventually parfumerie). Considering the tester couldn't be older than a couple of months, I'd recommend you keep this in a cool dark place just to be sure.

In no way does it smell like lemon washing up liquid, like some citrus frags do, nor does it smell simply of oranges and lemons. The base of classic woods is at once familiar and yet unique here in the way it mingles with the other notes. It opens up with like citrusy- soapy then it moves to spicy aromatic heart with a classic base of patchouli, woods and oakmoss.In just a moment, the initial musky note relaxes a bit and takes one step down letting the citrus, spicy and floral accords to come up more clearly, noticeable but not prominent. Dry down is slightly musky, but the overall citrus freshness is retained close to the skin as the vetiver announces its arrival.

This is a similar trick that the debut Versace masculine Versace L'Homme (1984) would also perform, but Armani Eau Pour Homme doesn't go in the same powdery "gentleman's night out" direction that the Versace scent takes, keeping it from being a link to later powdery oakmoss semi-oriental chypres like Guerlain Héritage (1992). You can smell both in it and if you try not to smell either (sorta like sniff squinting your nose) you get a new type of fragrance that is manly and soft. It has been reformulated, and while the new edition smells wonderful, they are of the same class but altogether not a substitution for eachother.I do not compare this frag to Chanel pour monsieur, Monsieur de Givenchy or Aqua di Parma, which are more lemony in my opinion. Finally, the base notes of patchouli, vetiver, and sandalwood provide a well-rounded foundation, evoking a sense of mystery and intrigue. I wouldn't bother with the current formula at all - it is truly that bad and a definite Thumbs Down.
